Supporting our Local Communities

JR Levins has always been a local firm. Our offices are based in the communities we help, and many of our staff live, work and have family connections in those same areas.

We are proud to support local clubs, teams and community initiatives that give people opportunities, bring families together and help strengthen local life.

Our commitment to local communities has also been recognised by Halton Chamber of Commerce, with JR Levins receiving a Highly Commended Commitment to the Community award at the Halton Business Awards for the work we do.

Some of the local groups and organisations we have supported include:

Community Support

Runcorn Linnets Football Club
JR Levins supports Runcorn Linnets through digital sponsorship, helping back a supporter-owned club with strong links to the local community.

Beechwood Lightning U10s Netball Team
We sponsored new match dresses for Beechwood Lightning, a local under-10s netball team based in Runcorn, helping the players feel confident and proud when representing their team.

Saints Learning Disability Rugby League
JR Levins supported the Saints LDRL awards night, celebrating the achievements of players who take part in inclusive rugby league.

Thatto Heath Women’s Masters Rugby Team
We have supported women’s community rugby through player sponsorship, helping promote participation and visibility in local sport.

MSB Woolton Football Club
JR Levins has supported MSB Woolton through player sponsorship, backing a long-established grassroots football club with deep community roots.

These partnerships reflect the kind of firm we want to be: local, supportive and involved in the communities around us.

Our Charity of the year:Mind

Mental health affects people across every part of life, including work, family, relationships and times of legal difficulty. That is why JR Levins has chosen Mind as our Charity of the Year.

As of May 2026, our team has raised £900 towards our £3,000 fundraising goal.

Staff across the firm have taken part in small fundraising activities throughout the year, including Spin the Wheel, Spot the Ball, a Duck Race, a Grand National Sweep and World Cup activity.

These activities are simple, but they help bring people together behind an important cause. Supporting Mind reflects our wider commitment to mental health awareness, staff wellbeing and the communities we work with every day.

Creating opportunities in law

We believe a career in law should be accessible to people from different backgrounds and through different routes, and not every route into law has to begin at university. Some members of our team have started in reception, administration or support roles before progressing into legal training. Others have joined through apprenticeships, work experience or training contracts.

Currently, 15% of our staff are on formal development pathways, with nine members of the team completing an apprenticeship or training contract.

We are proud to support these routes into law because they create real opportunities for local people to learn, grow and build long-term careers. They also help strengthen the firm by bringing in people with different experiences, skills and perspectives.

JR Levins was also recognised as Highly Commended for Employer of the Year by Unitemps, reflecting the firm’s commitment to supporting staff development and creating a positive working environment.

Supporting our People

Our staff are central to the service we provide. Clients rely on our team during important, stressful and sometimes life-changing moments, so it is important that our people feel supported too.

JR Levins offers a range of staff benefits designed to support wellbeing, development and work-life balance. These include:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays for full-time staff
  • an additional birthday day off
  • flexible working where possible
  • compassionate leave and emergency dependants’ leave
  • funded or part-funded training courses
  • access to CPD materials and development programmes
  • paid study leave for relevant qualifications
  • team social events and recognition
  • staff legal fee discounts
  • the Cycle to Work Scheme

Our Cycle to Work Scheme helps make active travel more accessible for staff, supporting wellbeing, sustainable travel and the option to spread the cost of a bike and equipment.

We also encourage internal development and training, helping staff build confidence, improve their skills and progress within the firm where opportunities are available.

Accessiblilty & Inclusion

Legal advice should feel as clear and accessible as possible.

JR Levins is an autism-friendly firm and a Liverpool Autism Champion. With support from Autism Together, we have created social story and visual support materials to help visitors plan their visit to our offices.

For some clients, coming into a solicitor’s office can feel stressful or unfamiliar. Providing clear visual information in advance can help reduce uncertainty and make the experience easier to manage.

Our staff have also received autism awareness training, helping us better understand how to support clients and visitors who may need additional consideration.

We are committed to making reasonable adjustments where needed, including support for clients with disabilities, vulnerabilities or communication needs.

Responsible Client Care

As a law firm, responsibility starts with how we look after our clients.

We know people often come to us at difficult points in their lives. They may be dealing with a family issue, a bereavement, a house move, a criminal matter, a workplace problem or another situation where clear advice is needed.

Our aim is to make the process as straightforward as possible. At the start of a case, we work to understand what the client needs, explain what we can do and make sure the work is handled by someone with the right experience.

We also aim to:

  • communicate clearly and professionally
  • return client calls the same day where possible
  • deal with correspondence promptly
  • write letters in plain and understandable language
  • provide clear information about likely costs
  • protect client confidentiality
  • signpost people to other support where we are unable to help
  • make reasonable adjustments for clients who need them

Good client care is not just about legal knowledge. It is about listening properly, explaining things clearly and helping people understand their options.

Practical Environmental Responsibility

We recognise that every business has an impact on the environment. As a local firm, our focus is on practical steps that reduce waste, improve everyday working practices and encourage more responsible choices.

Across the firm, we aim to reduce unnecessary printing, make greater use of digital files and online processes, and recycle paper, ink cartridges and other materials where possible.

We have also introduced a Cycle to Work Scheme, giving staff the option to save on bikes and cycling accessories while encouraging active travel where this is suitable for their commute.

We also use video calls where appropriate, helping reduce unnecessary travel for both staff and clients. Where we work with other businesses, we aim to build local working relationships where this is suitable and practical.

Our staff are encouraged to consider environmental responsibility in day-to-day decisions, including printing only where needed, reusing and recycling materials, and reducing unnecessary use of electricity and resources.

All of these initiatives form part of our wider responsibility to work in a more thoughtful and sustainable way.

A Local Firm with a Practical Approach

JR Levins is proud to be a local firm with strong links to the communities it serves.

Our responsibility is shown in the way we advise clients, support staff, create opportunities, back local causes and make practical improvements to how we work.

We do not see this as separate from our legal work. It is part of being a dependable local firm: doing things properly, treating people with respect and staying connected to the people and places around us.
