Police find girl,14, with axe in Newsham Park – Louise Bauress defends

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed to have found the axe in bushes while in the park with friends and did not know it was an offense to have the weapon.
She attended a voluntary interview where she admitted to having found the axe and picked it up.
Louise Bauress of Levins, defending, said: “[She] is 14 years of age and has never been before the courts…She found the axe with a group of youths in the park. She didn’t know it was an offense to carry such a weapon.”
